Territories Ecuador Ecuador The Galapagos Islands : Journey Highlights

The Galapagos Islands are home to an incredible variety of wonderfully peculiar species such as penguins, giant tortoises, and blue-footed boobies. Cruise the islands in an exclusively booked yacht, with opportunities galore for swimming among the fantastic creatures and hiking other-worldly terrain. From the islands, move inland to the mountainous highlands of Ecuador, where you’ll immerse yourself in the Quechua culture and visit one of the largest (and most colorful) Indian outdoor markets in South America.

  • Snorkeling and swimming: Get the seal’s eye view of the islands, with plenty of opportunities to be in, not just on, the water.
  • Wildlife watching: Possibilities abound for seeing the unique species of the Galapagos, including giant tortoises, penguins, iguanas, fur seals, and blue-footed boobies.
  • Hiking: Hike the Galapagos lowlands from the mangroves to the volcanoes, and the rural Andean high country in beautiful, mainland Ecuador.
  • Learn about traditional methods of weaving and dying textiles.

“Get the “surf and turf” special on this journey, with a wonderful mainland segment to complement and enhance your island-hopping adventure. We’ve also designed some unique and exciting extension options for the journey that are well worth considering." —Erin Hamilton, OBP Travel Expert
