Territories Peru Walking Through Peru With The Bryans : Journey Highlights

Your journey begins in the Sacred Valley and Cusco with time to acclimate and discover Incan and Spanish colonial history, then you set out on the hike of a lifetime: a 4-day lodge-to-lodge trek over the ancient Salkantay Trail to Machu Picchu. This trip is pure Off the Beaten Path. You travel with knowledgeable guides, on lesser-traveled trails, staying in top-rate, intimate lodges along the way. Your bilingual guides are experienced mountain travelers with detailed knowledge of history and culture as well as insight into present-day Quechua life.

  • Trekking: Enjoy fully supported high-elevation trekking, covering 3 to 9 miles a day, staying in exquisite lodges each night.
  • History/archaeology: Visit incredibly preserved pre-Incan, Incan, and Spanish colonial architectural sites with a guide who will provide fascinating historical perspective.
  • Cultural immersion: Connect with Peruvians eager to share the beauty of their country, and enjoy performances by local musicians and dancers.
  • Extend your journey: After your group adventure, go whitewater rafting on the Class III/IV Urumbamba River, take a mountain bike or horseback ride, or forget variety and keep on trekking.

"Explore the Inca Empire from a perspective that few experience—on the lesser-traveled Salkantay trail, approaching Machu Picchu from the west. Trek high mountain passes by day, and stay in top-quality intimate lodges at night. Unforgettable!" –Cory Lawrence, OBP CEO
