Day 1 (Yellowstone National Park) Meet your guides in Bozeman and head to Yellowstone National Park. We travel south through the park, making a stop along the way at the Norris Geyser Basin. Today’s wildlife highlights may include bald eagles, osprey, bison, pronghorn, mule deer, white-tailed deer, elk, coyotes, black and grizzly bears, sandhill cranes, and great blue herons. After dinner we enjoy some evening wildlife-watching in Hayden Valley.
Day 2 (Yellowstone National Park) We’re back in the Hayden Valley early to look for elk, bison, moose, grizzly bears, black bears, and harlequin ducks along the Yellowstone River. After a picnic lunch we visit the breathtaking Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, with its spectacular waterfalls.
Day 3 (Yellowstone National Park) After a quick, early breakfast, we’re off to the Lamar Valley, our most likely place to spot wolves. We get some down time this afternoon at our hotel in Cooke City, then after an early supper, it’s back out for more wildlife watching in the Lamar.
Day 4 (Yellowstone National Park) It’s back to the Lamar this morning, to see what we might see. Midday we head back to Cooke for lunch and a visit with wildlife photographer Dan Hartman.
Day 5 (Yellowstone National Park, Chico Hot Springs) We squeeze one last wildlife-viewing morning from the Lamar, then it’s on to Mammoth for a walk around the mineral terraces. A picnic lunch holds us until we get to Chico Hot Springs Resort, where we have a chance to relax in the hot pools or get a massage before a fabulous dinner.
Day 6 (Bozeman for Departures Home) Enjoy a wonderful farewell breakfast with your traveling companions and head back to Bozeman to catch flights home.
