Day 1 (Bozeman, Montana/Cameron, Montana) With your hybrid rental car and personalized Journey Guidebook, you and your traveling companions will make your way from Bozeman, Montana, to the Madison Valley and the Lodge at Sun Ranch, situated along Papoose Creek with the Madison Mountain Range as a glorious backdrop.
Days 2-3 (Cameron, Montana) Spend two full days partaking in the activities offered at The Lodge at Sun Ranch—hiking, horseback riding, fly fishing, bird watching, canoeing, and optional massage, as well as abundant wildlife viewing opportunities and touring of local ranch lands dedicated to innovative private land stewardship practices.
Day 4 (Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming) Today you’ll make your way through Yellowstone to Lake Yellowstone Hotel, located in the center of the park. You can choose the route you’d like to take once inside the park, but be sure to watch for bison, elk, deer, mountain sheep, wolves, fox, coyotes, eagles, and more. Explore this fascinating area and the various activities offered by the park on your own today. After dinner, you may want to take advantage of a twilight drive to Hayden Valley to look for wildlife.
Day 5 (Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming) Enjoy a full day exploring our nation’s first national park with one of our many experienced naturalist guides. Your host for the day will get you “off the beaten path” and introduce to the many of the phenomena that make Yellowstone truly one of the treasures of the world. Tailored to your interests, your time on this day can include hiking, wildlife viewing, natural history interpretation, and more. We can also arrange some time with a park concessionaire representative to learn what is being done to make their operations as “green” as possible.
Days 6-7 (Grand Teton National Park, Woming) Today you’ll make your way south to Grand Teton National Park where you’ll embark on a glorious two-night overnight sea kayaking trip on Jackson Lake situated at the base of the Grand Tetons! Take in the wonder of Grand Teton National Park from the unique perspective on the water during this unique experience with one of our favorite on-the-water operators.
Days 8-10 (Jackson Hole, Wyoming) What experience to the Greater Yellowstone would be complete without a stay in Jackson Hole? Based in the newly completed and LEED certified luxury lodge, Hotel Terra, you will enjoy guided activities of all types. Hike Grand Teton National Park, mountain bike virtually any level of technical terrain, seek out wildlife in their natural setting, whitewater raft, or if you have an interest, introduce yourself to rock climbing.
Days 11-13 (Lima, Montana) Round out your trip with a final leg in one of the most pristine of all of the wondrous valleys of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. The J Bar L Ranch is situated deep in the Centennial Valley, adjacent to the Red Rock Lakes National Wildlife Refuge. This beautifully restored “green” working guest ranch raises paint horses and grass fed beef, managing both under sustainable agricultural practices that involve guests on a number of exciting levels. Comprising over 9,000 acres of the Centennial Valley, options abound to hiking, horseback ride, fly fish, or lend a hand with the activities of a working ranch.
Day 14 (Bozeman for departures home) Your last day entails bidding farewell to the J Bar L before transferring back to Bozeman for flights home.
