Trip Motif Hiking Walking Yosemite Winter Romp Itinerary And Map : Itinerary & Map

Territory Map

Day 1 (Tenaya Lodge and Yosemite National Park) You’re about to find out for yourself why winter is such an exceptional time to visit this very special place. Our guide sets the tone for the day’s activities, based on weather conditions and the desires of the group. Snowshoeing, sledding, tubing, ice skating, are all possible right from the lodge. We cozy up before dinner on a horse-drawn sleigh ride, gliding through a Yosemite winter wonderland of towering sugar pines and cedars.
Day 2 (Tenaya Lodge and Yosemite National Park ) We snowshoe among the Giant Sequoias in the Mariposa Grove if there’s enough snow, and if not, we’ll don hiking books for the soul-stirring experience of walking in this majestic assembly. We can spend most of the morning here if we’d like, and after lunch visit the Pioneer Yosemite History Center—a “village” of structures collected from different locations throughout the park. Each building represents a different chapter in Yosemite’s story. After dinner at the lodge, there will be an optional moonlight/flashlight snowshoe through the forest—a memorable outing that activates all your senses.
Day 3 (Yosemite National Park, Badger Pass Ski Area) We leave Tenaya this morning for the very scenic hour-and-a-half drive to Badger Pass—California’s original ski area and the ski hill within a U.S. national park. Badger Pass also boasts one of the best sundecks in the Sierra. This will be a fun, full day of cross-country skiing and enjoying the snowy surroundings (rentals available on site).
Day 4 (Yosemite National Park) Depending on how we feel and what the conditions are, we’ll take snowshoes, cross-country skis or hiking boots to Crane Flat to explore the trails there. One choice is the Tuolumne Grove Trail, which descends a mile from the trailhead to a grove of giant sequoias. We’ll enjoy a hearty dinner and sleep well tonight at the lodge.
Day 5 (Yosemite National Park ) We’re out again today to explore the valley on skis, snowshoes, or hiking if there’s not enough snow. Destinations might include Lower Yosemite Falls, Mirror Lake, Cook’s Meadow, or John Muir trails. If there is time and interest, we can balance the more active part of the day with visits to some of the park’s excellent museums and visitor centers to learn more about Yosemite history. Tonight is a very special treat—a tour of the famous Ahwahnee Hotel and celebratory farewell supper in the renowned dining room.
Day 6 (Fresno for departures home) Catch your transfer to the Fresno airport for flights home after 1:00 p.m.
