Overview

Utah’s national parks are known collectively as the “Mighty Five.” Situated not too far from each other in the southern part of the state, each park is a powerhouse of unique wonder and beauty. We crafted this itinerary to capture each of these spectacularly unique parklands, with ample time to immerse and connect in special ways with each. On this guided journey you will get trail dust on your boots, hear stories from local characters, and discover the magic of lesser-known and far more remote areas throughout this enchanted landscape.

The five parks are brimming with endless adventure and natural wonder. Arches National Park has the highest density of natural arches in the world. Canyonlands National Park is so sprawling that it’s divided into three districts, each with its own, different draw. Capitol Reef National Park is a 100-mile “pinch” in the earth, filled with geological intrigue and cultural history. Bryce Canyon National Park is a high-elevation hoodoo heaven. And Zion National Park features narrow slot canyons, pockets of green, and soaring, colorful cliffs.

Activities include hiking 3 to 5 miles per day, with elevation gain/loss not typically more than 800 feet. Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Moab, UT

Check into your hotel in the heart of Moab and enjoy a welcome dinner, where your guides will set the stage for the journey ahead.

Day 2: Canyonlands National Park

Journey through Bears Ears National Monument and visit Newspaper Rock on the way to the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park. See the colorful spires of Cedar Mesa Sandstone and among staggering formations that frame the vast landscape.

Day 3: Arches National Park

Enjoy a full day in Arches National Park, where hikes are filled with sweeping views and geologic masterpieces! We'll kick off the adventure with a few classics such as Delicate Arch, Balanced Rock, and the Windows.

Day 4: Capitol Reef National Park to Boulder, UT

Migrate from Arches and Canyonlands National Parks to Capitol Reef National Park and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument today, with a hike to Cassidy Arch, Cohab Canyon, or another stunning location suggested by your guide in the afternoon. By day’s end, check into the beautiful Boulder Mountain Lodge. Tonight, enjoy dinner at the lodge's delicious farm-to-table restaurant.

Day 5: Capitol Reef National Park

Enjoy a full day exploring Lower Muley Twist Canyon from the Burr Trail Road in the panhandle section of Capitol Reef or hike to Calf Creek Falls in Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.

Day 6: Bryce Canyon National Park

Migrate to Bryce Canyon National Park, one of the world’s geological masterpieces, where you will explore afoot on spectacular trails. From the rim of the canyon, the ground falls away to reveal an unrestrained gallery of hoodoos, fins, mazes, and spires, in shades of red, orange, pink, yellow, and cream. Enjoy sunset over the canyon and retire for dinner and lodging in the heart of the park.

Day 7: Bryce Canyon to Zion National Park

After a stunning morning hike in Bryce Canyon and a short but oh-so-scenic drive, arrive in Springdale, Utah, which is right on the border of Zion National Park!

Day 8: Zion National Park

Embark on a full day of exploring and hiking through Zion Canyon. Wind, water, and time have carved the canyon into a masterpiece. Enjoy hikes through hanging gardens and past waterfalls to inspiring overlooks and even some splashy fun where the river is your trail! Celebrate your final night with a fabulous gourmet meal and fond farewells among newfound friends.

Day 9: Departures Home From St. George, UT

Enjoy breakfast before a short transfer to St. George, Utah, for flights home.

Hoodoo Moab

Perfectly located in the center of the town, the Hoodoo Moab by Curio Collection by Hilton, is a brand new addition to the town of Moab. Luxurious, yet laid-back, this gem is perfect for your time in the area.

Boulder Mountain Lodge

Boulder Mountain Lodge is an exceptionally comfortable and peaceful base camp for exploring this area. The lovingly managed and maintained backcountry ecolodge is a real gem, with its bird sanctuary and stunning views of the rugged, gorgeous country. Situated on an eleven-acre lake, the main lodge includes a spacious and welcoming two-story common room, library, and quaint guest rooms at the gateway of Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument and the surrounding Utahan desert.

Bryce Canyon Lodge

Like most national park lodges, Bryce Canyon Lodge is modest in its amenity but luxurious in its location! Located near the canyon’s rim, Bryce Canyon Lodge was designed for the national parks in the 1920’s. The Bryce Canyon Lodge offers lodge room options along with various levels of cabin dwellings. All accommodations are located with wonderful proximity to those fabulous views of Bryce Canyon.

Desert Pearl Inn

A long-time client favorite, the Desert Pearl Inn is a classic Southwest gem. Set along the banks of the Virgin River, the property is very nicely operated and holds a number of outstanding amenities. For our clients, we prefer to use the riverside rooms, all of which are expansive in size and enjoy wonderful views of Zion Canyon with great patios or balconies overlooking a lush grassy common area and the Virgin River. Simply perfect!
